Train Noise.

The environment around the Station is normally very quiet, especially if you are used to the city. On average, there are about 10 trains a day and 3 or 4 of these will be overnight. Most are relatively quiet, but the occasional one may be noisy. I am guided by the candid feedback from guests, which shows there is little issue with rail noise. The general opinion seems to be that the noise is less annoying than aircraft, road traffic & city noise and the trains are all part of the fun of staying at the Station.

Air-conditioning

The Station is equipped with efficient inverter reverse cycle air-conditioning for heating in winter and cooling in summer.

Baby Gear

A portable cot, highchair, baby bath and pot are available on request.

The beds are made up to hotel standards with linen, bedspread and extra blankets supplied. Electric blankets are fitted to double & queen beds.

Towels and soap are also supplied.

Tea and coffee are supplied to all bookings. Continental breakfast provisions can be pre-ordered at additional cost.

Carparking

There is a large off street carpark adjacent to the building with capacity for more than 20 cars. It is also large enough for bus and coach parking.

The Station does not have restaurant. It is set up as self contained and self catering accommodation. Outside caterers are used as required for special events. We can give you a list of those who have provided good service in the past.

Coffee and tea

An allocation of plunger coffee, tea, sugar and milk is supplied to all bookings.

Cooking

The kitchen has everything required for light cooking up to, but not including, a full sized oven. This includes mini oven, microwave, hotplates, frypan and cutlery and crockery for up to 20 persons. The kitchenette includes sink, fridge, microwave and cutlery and crockery for 6 persons.

Entertaining and Visitors

Our railway station is a great place to stay and is also ideal for friends or family to visit. However, if you will be having more than 6 additional visitors, please advise us as above six we consider a function and conditions & charges may apply. . . . see Functions below

Fire and Emergency Safety

Fire safety, like insurance, is one of those things that no one thinks about until a fire occurs. The Station is unusual for this level of accommodation in that it has a smoke and fire detection system and a fire sprinkler system. There are four fire extinguisher stations throughout the building. It has emergency back up battery lighting through all areas except bedrooms.

Firewood

The first quota of firewood is supplied for each booking unless stated otherwise. Additional firewood is supplied on request at cost. Firewood, kindling and firelighters are provided for inside fires only and not outside braziers or barbeques. The open fireplaces in the Waiting Room Lounge and the Club Saloon are approved for use. While there are fireplaces in most of the rooms, these are not used for fire safety reasons. Guests are welcome to bring their own supplies of firewood.

PLEASE NOTE : Open fires will not be permitted on days where it is considered the general bushfire risk makes the lighting of any inside fire unwise.

Functions

The layout and space at the Station make it ideal for a range of different functions. It has been used successfully for birthday parties, family re-unions, open house, weddings and get-togethers for almost any reason. The function must be associated with the use of the venue for accommodation and a booking for the whole Station. Any more than six visitors is considered a function use.

Functions involve additional costs and charges apply. There is a basic charge of $120 plus an additional $120 per 20 visitors. An additional 60 visitors will add $480. We have set 60 as a practical maximum, but can go to 80 for particular events. There is ample car parking.

Charges depend very much on the nature and intensity of the use, so discuss your requirements and we will negotiate a rate.

Gardens

The whole surrounding district is a garden, but the Station has its own extensive grounds including the original Station Garden.

Hair Dryer

Hair dryers are supplied for guest use

Heating - Indoor

The building is heated with efficient reverse cycle airconditioning.  Wood fires, for that  special "warm as toast" feeling and atmosphere are provided in both the Waiting Room Lounge and Club Saloon. The first quota of firewood is included in your tariff, and any additional wood is supplied at current cost prices on request. A quota will last approximately two days average use.

Heating - Outdoor

Heating for outside areas is not supplied. Clear PVC weather blinds are fitted to the Platform Verandah undercover area. The heat builds up under the verandah and provides a comfortable space. For additional heating, we have two outdoor gas space heaters available plus gas at your cost. Allow $40 gas per heater for 10 hours use. Braziers or half drums may be used outside of the undercover area.
